DESTINY (Digitally Enabled Sensor, Transducer and Instrumentation Network by YieldPoint) is an RS485 networking system that enables data from all types of digital and analog sensors to be transmitted over long distances and interfaced with existing mine-wide communications infrastructure such as: Ethernet running TCP/IP, leaky feeder wireless and other RS485 industrial networks running a variety of serial protocols. One version of the DESTINY Master can even transmit data over a single channel of an ESG seismic system. The system also provides solutions for local readout from the network using BlueTooth® enabled PDA type devices and data-loggers.Each DESTINY network comprises a DESTINY Master located at one end of the bus and up to 15 DESTINY Slaves (4 instruments each) configured in a daisy-chain configuration along a 2 twisted pair copper cable. The network can accommodate 60 instruments: that’s up to 600 channels of data. The Network protocol is Modbus ASCII. The DESTINY Master also provides a bridge between the sensor network and existing mine-wide infrastructure.
The Architecture of DESTINY network. The DESTINY Master and Slave are small devices with electronics that are potted and hermetically sealed from the environment. The system is powered by a 110VAC source located at the DESTINY Master. The digital sensors enable the network to be self-configuring so that no costly HMI devices such as keypads are required. The user does not need to program or configure any network settings. If a sensor becomes damaged the network will self reconfigure, periodically testing the status of the suspect instrument.
Advanatges: · Simple and fast installation. · Rapid redeployment as mining proceeds. · Low cost DESTINY Slaves allow sensor lead-wires to be minimized. · Digital sensors enable self configuration of the network (Plug ‘n Play). · Software displays all relevant TCP/IP and Modbus messages to facilitate rapid troubleshooting. · Data available in real world units for direct database storage. · Eliminates expensive data-loggers. · Real time data is available for instantaneous decision making. · Savings in manpower quickly pay back investment. · Wide Range of digital and analog sensors can reside on the network.
