YieldPoint provides high quality, yet competitively priced, digital geotechnical instruments that offer the best price/performance in the marketplace today. The digital advantage can be summarised as follows:

bullet

digital instruments cost up to 50% less;

bullet

specifications (linearity, accuracy) are improved by Individual calibration;

bullet

on-board temperature compensation;

bullet

effects due to lead-wire length are eliminated by sending robust digital signals.

bullet

cost-effective and user-friendly sensor networking and data-logging.

These features save time and money!! For example (i) digital output signals contain  information on the SensorID and SensorType so that networks and data-logging solutions require no  configuration, and (ii)  by providing  sensors that display readout in real-world units (mm or inches, tonnes or tons), YieldPoint’s digital instrumentation empowers miners, technicians  and engineers to make faster and more informed decisions.

The DETECT GMM (Digital Extensometer Technology using Eddy Current Transducers) provide a single point  measurement of closure around underground excavations. The  resolution in the order of 10microns, and with an accuracy, based on individual calibration, of better than 0.5%FS. The non-contact (inductive) technology means that the electronics are hermitically sealed and the instrument can withstand both  indefinite submergence in water, and blast vibrations. A digital output signal can be transmitted over 1000ft on low cost cable. The DETECT GMM is easier to install and more robust than existing potentiometer technology. more...

YieldPoint’s newest state-of-the art GMM uses non-contact SPECTRE (Sonic Pulse Extensometer/Contractometer Technology for Rock Engineering) technology to provide a single point displacement measurement. An on-board microcontroller provides temperature compensation and outputs a digital signal. Both the resolution (<0.01mm) and accuracy (0.5%FS) are significantly better than for similarly priced technology. The inherently digital form of the signals eliminates the necessity for expensive analog-to-digital conversion and results in low cost networked monitoring solutions. more...
microSPECT (micron Scale Precision Eddy Current Transducer) is a digital strain gauge that can measure displacements with a resolution of 1 micron over a range of 10mm. For a 1m base-length model this corresponds to micro-strain resolution. The sensor is exceedingly thin (<10mm) and can monitor the strain developed in pillars, shotcrete pillars, steel support elements, mechanical rock bolts end anchored cable bolts to mention but a few. Non-contact (inductive) technology results in a waterproof sensor and can be embedded within concrete or backfill structures.  It can also monitor the dilation of single fractures in rock or shotcrete. more
Multi-Point Borehole Extensometers (MPBXs)
The DETECT-EX Multi-Point Borehole Extensometer  is specifically designed to accurately and reliably measure displacement at 3,4, or 6 points  around underground excavations. The distinguishing feature of this technology is the Single Rod Design that locates the displacement transducers at specified distances along the extensometer probe. By virtue of this design movement is measured directly at location, so that the accuracy of the individual transducers represents that for the overall instrument without errors related to long rods. more...
Tiltmeters
TILT sensors are based an either electrolytic (TILT-EL) or MEMS (TILT-SG) transducers and are available in uni-axial (TILT-EL only) and biaxial configurations. For larger range monitoring (+/- 30arcdeg, with 0.01arcdeg res) use the TILT-EL30 or TILT-SG30, and for narrow range (+/-2arcdeg with 1 arcsec res) use the TILT-EL02. TILT sensors can provide a cost-effective monitoring solution for monitoring an excavation roof ,a brow, a fill bulkhead, or a sill mat. more...
Vibrating Wire Interface
The Digiplucker is a small, low cost units that enables YieldPoint’s digital   peripheral components to read (MIU or SensorSync for PalmOS device), store (SLUG) or transmit (DESTINY) data from vibrating wire (VW) transducers such as load-cell, stress cells and piezometers. The user simply connects the leads of the VW sensor to a terminal block housed inside the unit and then treats the sensor like any other YieldPoint sensor. The unit outputs the temperature recorded by the thermistor in degC (0.1degC resolution) and  the period of vibration of the wire in microsecs (0.1 microsec resolution). more...
