The d-REBAR is an instrumented deformed rebar available for #5 diameter (15.88mm) and bigger bars.
The technology allows between 2(d2REBAR) and 6(d6REBAR) long base-length strain gauges to be configured in 2 diametrically-opposed slotted channels. The inductive strain gauge technology is capable of measuring bolt strain up to 1.5%. The strain gauges can be configured in staggered and stacked configurations as explained in the following technical note:
The technology has been successfully used to monitor bolt loads in both hard rock mines and coal mines. For cases in which the bolt is to be installed in resin the detached electronics head (lower model in photo above) is recommended.
